Why isn’t Strikeforce putting up events to compete with UFC 105 & 106?

I mean I understand there’s boxing tonight. But, there’s no competition for the upcoming UFC events.
UFC always puts up competing events/shows (even if they’re re-runs) to compete with other promotions.

  1. Because they don’t have any that could compete. It would be on premium cable anyway, not like on basic cable like Spike. But they just don’t have too many fights under their banner that they could make a competitive replay show out of, and they used a lot of their top guys for their live show last week. They cannot compete, head-to-head, with the UFC.

  2. they don’t have enough good fighters to compete with the UFC. All of their best fighters, and big name fighters were just on their last fight card. No other organization around right now is even close to being as big as the UFC, and none of the other promotions have the level of talent that the UFC has.

  4. They cant compete with the UFC simply because they don’t have enough decent fighters and they don’t have enough money. Fedor vs Rogers was there biggest draw ever (respectfully so) so they have no other fighters that can bring them enough ratings and viewers besides Fedor. Maybe Cung Le since he has stated he is coming back to strikeforce after vacating his title but i gurantee the next live primetime show they put on again wont be for awhile and it will have Fedor as the main event again but this time its most likely going to be Fedor vs Overeem.

  5. I like Strikeforce but CBS won’t show future events if there aren’t going to be at least 6 million viewers. The Fedor event drew about 5. 7 views. The was close, but CBS will not commit to doing another event yet. I think we will see at least one more event by CBS, but if the ratings are low, you can almost bet that Strikeforce will be cut.

Because of this, Strikeforce must put it’s top stars on one card to draw those views. Mousasi just fought and so did Fedor. Who else can draw 6 million views? Nobody except Gina Carano. She is too busy shooting a movie, so there is nobody left to fight for Strikeforce. Fedor is out of action for 6 months with a broken hand and nose. Overeem is rumored to be avoiding fighting in the US because he has been fighting in Japan. Bottom line, there’s just nobody that can fight who can draw a large viewer audience. I think the first possible fight would be Overeem vs. Rogers. That wouldn’t be until at least 3 months since Rogers just fought. But if that fight does happen, I think Strikeforce may not ask CBS to show it since it is highly unlikely that the fight would draw anything near 6 million views.

  6. You must have missed the Fedor-Rogers fight last weekend or the Shields-Miller fight. They were televised on Showtime and nationally on CBS so you did not even have to pay for it actually.
